Summertime ramblings... Boring family update :)

It's hard to believe that summer is almost over....

We have not really done a lot as a family. That's very sad to me. Our kids just don't seem to want to spend time with mom and dad..  Upside is my sweetie and I make a point of having time together every week, even if its just going to Home Depot together, or watching a movie together, we have made time for ourselves..  I guess now the girls are 15 and 17, mom and dad are pretty much the last people on earth they want to hang around with.

We had Raylen stay with us two weeks this summer, (One week in June, one in July) I was very ill the last week we had her, so I hope we get a few more days with her before she heads back to school. We did take her to Six Flags a few times, Daryl and Becca took her the last time she was here, she has a LOT of fun riding the rides.

We all have passes to Six Flags, but not once have we gone with both the girls..  It's been me and the girls, Me, Daryl and Jessie,  Daryl and Becca, but not all four of us. With Rebecca having been working all summer at Sonic (until last week) it kind of made it difficult. But she still went with friends, and Jessie also went with her friends a few times. We definitely got our money's worth for the passes, but it would be nice to do it with all four of us.

June was a  busy month,  Becca turned 17, and we celebrated her high school graduation, and she became a carhop.  Jessie started babysitting for our neighbors, and she has totally been enjoying her job. I was nursing a broken collarbone and fractured wrist that month, so my ability to do much was limited by the injuries..

July was pretty much a work, eat, clean, grocery shop, sleep month.. Honestly I feel that's pretty much all I did. Battled Bronchitis and sinusitis a couple weeks of the month, (Still dealing with residual cough and congestion) We had Raylen as I said, but I pretty much either was in bed sleeping, or working (also in our bedroom - I work from home on the phone/computer - and I DID sound very awful on the phone, ) But the girls and Daryl entertained her, and took very good care of her.  We did attend her 6th birthday party at a bouncy place.  That was a lot of fun, she is such a sweet special little girl, we are very blessed to have her in our lives.

August so far has been ok.. Becca quit her Sonic job, and went to visit friends in Washington this week, Jessie has been babysitting a lot, and helping out around the house SO much. Daryl celebrated his 52nd birthday this past Monday. Since I had to work Monday night, he and I went to eat on Sunday just the two of us.. we went to "BJs Brewhouse". Neither of us drink beer, but I had an amazing salad, he got a pizza and we both had house brewed root beers to drink :)

Our 33rd wedding anniversary is coming up next week.. On August 24.. We are planning on going away, for a couple of days.. I already have Friday approved off, He ALWAYS takes our anniversary day off work too.. ( It's a tradition - he takes my birthday off, and our anniversary..  But he didn't take HIS off,  I felt bad he didn't, but his mother took him to lunch for his birthday on Monday. )

Anyhow, I don't know where we are going, either a hotel, or bed and breakfast, and somewhere within a 2 to 3 hour drive at the most.. (We don't want to spend all day driving to get to our destination)  I am looking forward to it. I love spending time with my sweetie, and even if we are at home "alone" we aren't really alone.. there are three dogs, and three cats ALWAYS underfoot, or wanting attention..

But after we get home, our summer will just about be officially over..

Jessie starts coop classes on Thursday mornings, 9 to 12. She also babysits every day but Thursday starting this fall.. only in afternoons, so she will have plenty of time to do her schoolwork.  That will be starting after Labor Day. I always wait till then.  Since its just her at home, it will be interesting. We are still going to use the workboxes, because with her ADD it helps her see what she HAS to do, and when she finishes and the boxes are marked done, she feels more accomplished..

Becca starts full time college in a couple weeks..  Not sure what all classes she registered for, but i know she is taking either 13 or 16 credit hours this semester.. (one of the classes has a lab).

Michael has been working at Alcon.. he leaves here about 315 gets home after midnight..  stays up all night playing on his computer, and sleeps till right before he has to work.. So except on weekends, we don't see a lot of him..   He does need to learn to do his own dishes though..  He is 25 and mom is a little tired of cleaning up his mess.. I don't do his laundry, or touch his room.. but I cook for him, and wash all the dishes he uses (he brought at LEAST 2 dozen containers/bowls  out of his room the other day.. apparently had been stockpiling from snacks...  he just set them on the counter and left them for me to wash...  - I told him that was not an acceptable thing, and from now on I would not be washing them... )

Our oldest son Steven seems to be doing ok.. He moved to Vernon Texas a few months ago.. I miss our weekly Sunday family dinners...  I still see him on facebook, and occasionally tak on the phone, but I do miss seeing him at least once a week.  He has had Raylen last week and this week, and is coming to see us on Saturday, so we can all go out for his dads birthday (Belatedly), and hes bringing Raylen too :)

This years summer weather hasn't been as hot as last years... But still been pretty toasty outside..  We finally got some rain overnight, not sure how much, most of the major stuff stayed far north of us, but our ground had mud, (grass isn't doing so well in the heat) So I guess we got a bit more than a sprinkle.

I have let my diet and exercise fall apart the past few months.. When I broke myself in May, I of course was unable to go to the YMCA... and since I have recovered, all I have done is go walk on the treadmill a couple days a week... I need to do more. So back to school, back to exercise, back to eating better...   That's our new motto around here I think :)

Off to do battle with a sink of dishes (oh yeah.. our dishwasher quit a while back.. so I wash everything by hand now.. fun fun fun)   Have a wonderful 'rest of the week'  :)

First things, I was hired by Aetna in February. I'm so grateful for this job, and i'm good at it, or was starting to be good. Best ...
