Deer Lapbook

Jessica has been working on her Deer lapbook (from Hands of a child http://www.handsofachild.com/shop/Deer-Ebook-P669.aspx )

We got this set to use when we went on spring break vacation to Southwest Texas - Big Bend area, LOTS of deer there! But Jessica got very sick on the first full day we were there, and ended up getting emergency treatment at a little clinic there, for her bronchitis and asthma. Needless to say, working on her lapbook kind of took a back seat. She did do a few activities in it while we were at Sanderson, but she really got to feeling pretty sick.

Well here it is about 6 weeks later, and she is finishing up the Deer lapbook.

It has been fun and a real interesting experience for us, as it was our FIRST lapbook ever to do. I didn't print it here at home, but had hubby print it at work, so it was all printed on white paper. With our next one we will be working on (Probably Little House in the Big Woods ) I will print at home, using colored paper for the elements.

She chose the layout herself, having stuck things on as she was doing it, then realizing she might ought to do all the mini books first, then attach - a lesson learned that we will remember for the ones we do in the future.

But she is proud of her lapbook - even though it took an awfully long time to complete (factor in she broke her leg a week after coming home from Spring Break vacation, so she has been kind of out of pocket with work lately!) But we aren't allowed to call lapbooking "schoolwork" :) Jessie has claimed it is too much fun tht it can't be school !!

Let me know what you think! And I really wish I had printed it at home on color paper, but I was low on ink... (am low again, but payday is Friday so will stock up before printing Little house pages!)

  5. What a great job, especially for a first timer! I love the colored in clip-art. Colored paper can be fun, but I think the ability to color in the clip art let's you create something truly unique.
