Fun day at the Zoo!

Another HS mom had some tickets to the FW Zoo http://www.fortworthzoo.com/index.html she wasn't going to use, so the girls, Raylen and I went today. We had a great time, but boy was it HOT!!!

Raylen loved the zoo - she has never been before, and it was such fun watching her get excited over all the animals. She had fun watching the chimpanzees, was excited over the Big Apes, and giggled at the Orangutangs. Then we went on the "African Savanah" and "Asian Falls" routes - Rhino's, Meercats, Elephants, Giraffes, Hippopotamus, Zebras, it was such fun!!

We saw big "Kitty cats" - white tiger, Indochinese tiger- Who was acting just like a kitty cat! He was rolling around in the dirt, stretching out, looking a lot like the cats here at home! I tried to get a good photo of him, but the camera focused on the bars not him - so I got a REAL clear shot of the bars on his enclosure, lol. The lions were snoozing (in almost 100 degree heat, I would have liked to be snoozing in the shade also!)

We couldn't see the bears very well, one was too far away, and the other was hiding.

We went in an aviary, full of hundreds of Parakeets! That was so cool, the girls each had a stick with some peanut butter and bird seed on it, and the parakeets came right to them to feed off the stick!

Then we saw some beautiful Macaws!! Absolutely gorgeous! And there were Harpy Eagles! HUGE eagles!!

Then on to the Penguins, and the flamingos, and we rode the Yellow Rose Express train- fun stuff! Raylen kept going "choo choo" throughout the ride.

We got in, and Raylen went down for a nap - busy day and we have more activities this evening!
