38th Anniversary trip - Seattle - Poulsbo - Port Towsend

So every year we try to do something special for our anniversary. Road trip, fly somewhere, do SOMETHING to commemorate the years..

This year we planned on going to Key West. Weather there kind of derailed that idea.. so we went across the country the other way. To Seattle. We went for 4 days and 3 nights.

Seattle bound..

The view of Mt Rainier coming into Seattle was absolutely breathtaking!!   I took a LOT of pictures, but none do it justice!

Seattle from the air  -   surrounded by a lot of water!

Our first visit after leaving the airport was Pike Place Market.  It was pretty awesome.

There was so many vendors with tons of fresh fruit, veggies, meats and lots of seafood

This is "Rachel" the Pike Place Piggy bank.

We got alot of "selfies" of the two of us :)
Overlooking the waterfront.

The Bainbridge Ferry

I don't eat fish, but this was kind of neat.

I nevr realized there were SO many different mushrooms!

Fruits, veggies and berries.
Such colors!!!!

We walked from Pike Place market, across to the waterfront..

I ate cotton candy... not on my diet but it was VACATION!

After we walked a lot, we went and our car, and headed to the Bainbridge Ferry

We stayed on Bainbridge Island our first night -  Wished we had driven just a little farther north to this beautiful town, but we got there the next morning!

Poulsbo is a Scandanavian community. Lots of beautiful buildings, fishing boats, and cute little shops and restaurants.
Visited a beautiful town - Poulsbo

We got some sweets at this bakery - I had the BEST Apple/Walnut sticky bun I have ever had. It was HUGE!

After leaving Poulsbo, we headed up to Port Townsend, where we had purchased seats on a WhaleWatch tour, by Puget Sound Express tours.

View from the boat -

Whales and other wildlife we might see on the tour.

We didn't see whales the first day out, and they promise if you don't see whales, you get a free voucher to comeback, so we set it up to go back the next day.

We walked around Port Townsend a bit,and then drove to our hotel, The Tides Inn

view from the balcony of our room.

It was such a pretty, romantic room. With amazing views!

Sunrise on our anniversary - too many clouds but still very pretty.

Our Anniversary morning :)

Went back out on the whale watching tour again - this time we saw 2 orcas!!!

After the tour. we walked around Port Townsend, did some shopping, and then headed back to the Seattle area to stay in a hotel near the airport.  Our rental car was due at 10 am the next morning, and we didn't want to have to get up way early to drive there.

It was a very lovely vacation...  too short as always, but we saw and did things we hadn't before..  I love celebrating our marriage with these trips...  Always something to treasure the memories of!
