2012 Our lives in rewind...

A friend's blog about the past year got me itching to post as well..
so here we go...

The Smith family 2012 rewind....

January

Michael turned 25 this month, Weather was kind to us. My friend Apryl took my girls and Becca's boyfriend, out for the day to take photos of them before she moved back to Tennessee..   She got some wonderful shots, and my girls made more memories with the Herrell girls..  It was a fairly quiet month.. Daryl and I started on a weight loss plan.. we failed, but we are trying again.

February

My baby girl turned 15 this month.. growing up way too fast for me. We celebrated with dinner at The Mellow Mushroom, She had cheesecake at home, and a shopping trip to the mall with mom.

I celebrated my 49th birthday. Daryl took me shopping, and to dinner at Chilis.. Baby back ribs and margaritas :) YUMM.
50 is creeping up on me.

  March

The girls went on the Spring Break tour with the Dorothy Shaw Bell Choir in March. They flew to Indianapolis, performed there a couple of days, rode a bus to Chicago, performed there, and then back to Indianapolis to fly home. While on tour, they also got to do a lot of sightseeing..  Indianapolis Speedway, The Chicago "bean", and much more..   They had a great time as they usually do when on tour

While they were gone, Daryl and I went on a little "road trip" through the Hill Country, ending up in San Antonio and then back to home a different route.. We got a lot of my 'courthouse photos' taken, saw TONS of wildflowers, and generally had a marvelous time just being together.. We needed "alone" time, and this was perfect for us.

 April

It was a great month for gardening.. I got our veggie garden growing very well, produced lots of tomatoes, and stuff before the heat got to it..

May

Becca decided in late April she wanted to graduate a year early.. which scholastically was not an issue, she was ready, but planning for a June graduation in a little over a month was kind of overwhelming..  We had senior photos, invitations, planning.. so May was spent on that..  Also my oldest son moved about 3 hours away the first week of May, caused great sadness to this mama, but he surprised me on Mothers day with a visit.. so TOTALLY unexpected! AND he sent me flowers with the most awesome card.. I am a very blessed mama.

The girls also had their homeschool prom. They looked absolutely beautiful, but then they always do.

I broke my collarbone and wrist in a fall on the 21st.. was out of commission a few weeks..  and then still struggled with the pain a few more. Was so grateful to have full use back when all healed!

 June

June was busy..  Becca turned 17, and she had her graduation 3 days after her birthday.  It was small, homey and very special, and we appreciated all our friends and family that came to celebrate with us.  - Who knew how popular the chocolate fountain would be ?!?!

 July

July saw us celebrate our Raylen's sixth birthday!

   August

In August Daryl celebrated his 52nd birthday, and we took a trip to Galveston to celebrate the 33rd anniversary of our wedding day. It was an awesome trip.

 September

September was a rough month..  my cat had kittens, 6 of them, then we lost them all a week later..  (dogs) it was a sad time, but taught us all to be more careful with new baby animals in the home.

Jessie began a co-op with LEAD, spending every Thursday morning learning about Shakespeare, and how to cook things! She has made some wonderful friends, and learned an awful lot!

October

Trunk or treat, The Shrine Circus, Halloween, and Six flags visits were the highlights of our month.

Our homeschool trunk or treat was quite fun, we made "slime" with the kids as our activity.

Halloween had my girls dressing up as characters from Doctor Who.. Becca was Amy Pond, and Jessie River Song..  They attended a Halloween dance and had fun with all their friends.

Raylen, Papa and I went to Six Flags for the Halloween fun they had on tap.. Raylen has REALLY enjoyed all our Six Flags outings this year.

Daryl and I also took the girls to the Shrine Circus - Becca said she had never been to the circus - now she has :

November

Remembering what we are thankful for - God, Family and Friends.

Bella had her second litter of kittens - only two this time, and we have taken great care to make sure they grow up . they are 6 weeks old now and driving me batty..  Raylen and Steven are taking one of them, His name is "Fuzzball" and a good friend is taking another - (We call her Princess Z for now.. she will get her forever name from her new owner)

Kittens at 6 weeks - Fuzzball on left, Little girl (we call princess) on right
Thanksgiving was very low key - Steven couldn't make it, but we had a nice quiet dinner with Daryl's mom.

The day after Thanksgiving the annual Bell choir madness began - our daughters performed at Bass Hall thanksgiving weekend. We got to go to the Sunday Matinee performance, it was a wonderful start to the holidays

December

December started off interesting.. first we had The Littlest Wiseman rehearsals, and performances, for the first 2 weeks. Also formal reception, and the Square Dance play party (which i was in charge of refreshments, set up, clean up and decorations)

Then the next week the plumbers started work in our home - five holes in the foundation later they got all the rotted out pipes repaired..  Now we are waiting till after the new year for the flooring.

Christmas was wonderful..  Steven and Raylen spent several days with us before the holiday.

We shopped, made cookies, and a gingerbread house... And Santa visited Raylen here at our home..

AND we had snowfall on Christmas day!

It was absolutely the best Christmas we have had in a long  time...

Now we are on to a new year..  I pray this year outshines all others, and our lives are even more blessed than they have been before..

Happy 2013 to all our Friends and Family..
